Yuzen-zome

Yuzen is one of the techniques which dye a pattern to cloth and Japanese most famous dyeing technique.

 The originator of yuzen-zome is Miyazaki Yuzensai in Edo period.

 The technique which he founded in Kyoto is called “Kyo-yuzen”.

 Moreover, the technique which he brought it into Kanazawa is called “Kaga-yuzen” and accomplished original development.

Kyo-yuzen uses light colors and Kaga-yuzen uses deep colors.

Yuzen-zome draws simplified animals, plants and scenes.

The kimono of yuzen-zome is expensive and it used to be inherited from mother to daughter in old time, but now, demands of kimono is decreasing and demands of yuzen-zome is also decreasing in connection with it.

In order to solve this problem, new trials which the technique of yuzen is utilized in T-shirts, jeans...etc are made.
