Calligraphy

The history of Japanese calligraphy has started by introduction of Kanji from China in 1 or 2 century.

The first introduced characters ware cast in coin.

The word is "貨泉".

A right character is "貨", and a left character is "泉".

Then, Japanese calligraphy was developed rapidly because Buddhism was handed down and Prince Shotoku and Prince Shomu started transcribing a sutra.

When you do calligraphy, a brush, an inkstone, an ink stick (or Indian ink) and a paper is require.

These items are called “Bunboushihou”.

The model of calligraphy is the beautiful hand which ancient experts left.

The famous model of ancient China.

We can learn not only technique but also the heart.

In Japan, calligraphy has learned by children from ancient time.

Now, we are taught it in elementary school and junior high school.
